Salt Lake Gallery Stroll

Friday, January 15, 2010
6:00pm - 9:00pm
ArtSpace City Center
230 South 500 West
Salt Lake City, UT

The Salt Lake Gallery Stroll has become a staple of the city's cultural life. The third Friday of every month sees the city's galleries open late for receptions, exhibition openings and to allow the public a chance to see what's new in the city's visual arts.

Studio 210, located at ArtSpace City Center, will be featuring works from Salt Lake City artist Tony Cox.

There are many participating galleries and artist studios within Artspace City Center, a short walk from the Gateway Plaza. Gallery Stroll, as always, is a free event.

Thirty-five paintings and three sculptures, created by contemporary artists, tell some of the stories of the Willie and Martin handcart companies, who were trapped in the snows of Wyoming in 1856.

The art works are accompanied by statements directly from the artists or from journal entries of the handcart pioneers. This exhibition is in conjunction with a new book release and the PBS documentary “Sweetwater Rescue: The Martin and Willie Handcart Story”.
